Welcome to Krishi Vigyan Kendra Bolangir Krishi Vigyan Kendra , Bolangir, sanctioned by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research to operate under Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar in pursuance to the Council’s Office Order No.2-22/2000-AE-II,ADG(AE) ICAR, PUSA, New Delhi dt.10.08.2009. KVK, Bolangir was established on 18th August 2009 with a prime aim to enhance the agricultural production of Bolangir district with help of the mandatory activities like: On Farm Trials, Front Line Demonstrations, Vocational Trainings for farmers,farm women and rural youths, In-service Trainings, different Extension Activities, quality planting material production. It is located at R.E. Farm, LarkiPalli, Bolangir
KVK, Balangir successfully organized the Khet Bachao Abhiyan from 1st June to 30th June 2026 across 36 villages of Balangir district.
The month-long campaign was carried out by four KVK teams, reaching 764 farmers through awareness programmes, village meetings, and field interactions. The campaign focused on promoting sustainable agricultural practices, including green manuring, natural farming, organic farming, and Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) to improve soil health and ensure long-term agricultural sustainability.
Farmers were also sensitized about the use and benefits of biofertilizers such as Azospirillum, Rhizobium, Azotobacter, Azolla consortia, Water-Soluble Blue-Green Algae (BGA), Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria (PSB), Vermicomposting, and Vesicular-Arbuscular Mycorrhiza (VAM/Mycorrhiza) for enhancing soil fertility and crop productivity.
On-farm testing to identify the location specificity of agricultural technologies under various farming systems.
Frontline demonstrations to establish its production potentials on the farmers? fields.
Training of farmers and extension personnel to update their knowledge and skills in modern agricultural technologies.
Work as resource and knowledge centre of agricultural technologies for supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector for improving the agricultural economy of the district.
Produce and make available technological products, like seed, planting material, bio agents, young ones of livestock etc. to the farmers.
Organize extension activities to create awareness about improved agricultural technologies to facilitate fast diffusion and adoption of technologies in agriculture and allied sectors.
